og:title, og:description and og:url must be inside the head tag and should not be empty. The head must appear within the first 300KB of the HTML.
Image
WhatsApp recommends an image 300px or more in width, with a 4:1 width/height or less aspect ratio, under 600KB in size.
Title
WhatsApp displays the title in primary text color, in bold and in at most 2 lines. It documents no character limit.
Description
The description is limited to 1 or 2 lines, and WhatsApp says 80 characters will suffice. That is guidance, not a hard cut.
Best effort
WhatsApp makes its best attempt to show previews, for example by relaxing requirements, looking for other HTML markup and reverting to small link previews. It says this should not be relied on.
