What this checker looks at
Every warning says what to change.
-
Image
Dimensions, aspect ratio, file size, declared against actual size, and load time, compared with each platform’s size and file limits.
-
Title
Character count, and whether it fits where a platform has a limit. Notes when twitter:title overrides og:title on X.
-
Description
Character count, checked against the X limit (200 characters) and the WhatsApp guideline (about 80).
-
Text per platform
Only X and WhatsApp publish a text limit, so those are the only places a trimming warning can come from.
-
Tags
og:url, og:type, twitter:card and og:site_name, with what is missing.

Frequently asked questions
The image a platform shows when someone shares your link, set with the og:image meta tag. LinkedIn, iMessage and Slack all read it. X reads twitter:image and falls back to og:image.
A 1200×630 image at a 1.91:1 ratio satisfies Facebook’s recommendation of at least 1200×630 and LinkedIn’s 1200×627 minimum. X wants a 2:1 ratio for large card images. File limits are 5 MB on X and LinkedIn and 8 MB on Facebook, WhatsApp recommends under 600 KB, and a Bluesky link card thumb has a 1 MB maximum.
It depends on the platform. Facebook’s crawler has to see an image once before it can render it, unless og:image:width and og:image:height are set. WhatsApp wants non-empty og:title, og:description and og:url inside the head, within the first 300 KB of the HTML. iMessage does not run JavaScript, so metadata must be on the page itself. Slack does not expand a preview when the page has no embedded data. LinkedIn and Facebook also cache, so an old copy may be showing.
The checker shows one preview per platform, and platforms such as Slack, Discord, Bluesky and Threads say little or nothing about how they build one. The cards here approximate each layout, so a real share can look different.
LinkedIn has the Post Inspector, and a refresh only affects new posts that include the URL. Facebook caches images by URL, and its Sharing Debugger forces a re-crawl. Google says title link updates need a recrawl, which may take a few days to a few weeks. Slack has a URL debugging tool for unfurls.
Yes. No signup, and each check covers one page.
Ideally, yes. A page-specific image tells people what that page is about, which a generic site-wide image cannot. If making them by hand is not realistic, RenderFast generates them from a single template, one per URL.
Add an og:image meta tag pointing to a 1200×630 image, plus og:image:width and og:image:height, which Facebook says let it render the image right away. If you do not have an image yet, generate one with the free OG image generator, then run the checker again.
